Safe Tomorrows Program
Welcome Motorola Volunteer,

The Safe Tomorrows Program was developed for you by The Safe America Foundation to provide an overview of a variety of safety topics for students, ages 5-18. The goal is to have the students take the information and use it to make safer and healthier lifestyle choices.  Most of the topics are for the entire age group.  Several topics contain information that may be inappropriate or sensitive for children under 10, and some are specifically for 13+. You, as the instructor, can decide which topics to cover, based on your interests and the age of your audience. When we developed the program, it was intended to be used as a comprehensive overview of all (or most) of the topics. You may choose to do this or pick several topics and focus on them using some of the activities listed in the Lesson Plan.

This website has all the information you need to present the Program in your classroom.  You will be able to read or print out the Safe Tomorrows Program Lesson Plan, Safe Tomorrows Guidelines & Questions and the corresponding PowerPoint. These documents cover the topics discussed above. There are also activity sheets for various age groups that can be printed out and distributed.

The site also contains more detailed information about ICE and the importance of programming numbers into your cell phone “In Case of Emergency”.

Also on the site is information on Motorola’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS).  Included in this section is a PowerPoint about the ITS by former Motorola Senior Fellow Gary Grube.

We thank you for your service on October 14, 2009 and everyday you volunteer in your community. You can make a difference in someone’s life!

ICE - In Case of Emergency
In Case of Emergency (ICE) is a program that enables first responders such as paramedics, firefighters and police officers, to identify victims and contact their next-of-kin to obtain important medical information. The program was conceived in the mid-2000s and promoted by British paramedic Bob Brotchie in May 2005.  It encourages people to enter emergency contacts in their cell phone address book under the name "ICE". Alternately, a person can list multiple emergency contacts as "ICE1", "ICE2", etc. The popularity of the program has spread across Europe and Australia, and has started to grow into North America.  Read more...
