Prepared Not Scared:

Based on Safe America’s proprietary programming and FEMA’s "Are You Ready?" campaign, this workshop has been designed to help citizens and business owners learn how to protect themselves and their families against all types of hazards. The focus of the content is how to develop, practice and maintain emergency plans that reflect what must be done before, during and after a disaster to protect people and their property. Also included is information on how to assemble a disaster supplies kit that contains the food, water and other supplies in sufficient quantities for individuals and their families to survive.  

Business Continuity Planning:

As the costs of disasters continue to rise, citizens must find ways to reduce hazard risks to their businesses and themselves. Efforts made to reduce hazard risks can and should include improvements to existing infrastructure; mitigation can and should be an important component of the planning effort. Mitigation means taking action to reduce or eliminate long-term risk from hazards and their effects. This workshop will cover: 

• Planning and Preparation

• Recovery

Crisis Communications that Work:

Being able to communicate effectively is a necessary and vital part of the job for all business owners and managers. This course is designed to improve your communication skills. It addresses:  

• Basic communication skills
• How to communicate in an emergency
• How to identify business-specific communication issues
• Using technology as a communication tool
• Effective oral communication
• How to prepare an oral presentation

Shaping your Corporate Image:

As a follow-up workshop to Crisis Communications, “ Shaping your Corporate Image” will cover the following topics: 

• Creating a Smart Logo
• Building your Brand
• Relating to “ New Demographics”
• How to Shape a Video or Infomercial for Emotional Appeal

Transportation Training- Fleet Driver Safety:

Most companies that employ a fleet of commercial vehicles look for more than a commercial driver's license (CDL) from their drivers. Fleet safety directors want to know that their drivers have the skills to operate safely on the roads, protect themselves from injuries and crashes and  professionally represent the company for which they drive. Fleet Driver Safety provides drivers with these critical skills and helps them meet job requirements for safe driver training. The Fleet Driver Safety program covers:  

• Defensive driving strategies
• Safe America’s RH Factor- Road Hazard Recognition and Avoidance
• Basic traffic laws and procedures
• Safe driving practices in different environments and the challenges of driving in severe weather and other extreme conditions

Infection Control and Bloodborne Pathogens:

Worldwide, workers in public safety and health care related fields are at risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens such as the HIV virus and hepatitis B virus. Designed to meet the current OSHA training requirements, Safe America’s Infection Control and Bloodborne Pathogens Workshop was created for students and employees who are at risk for occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials, and even has supplemental information on airborne pathogens such as tuberculosis. 

PedFacts for Professional Caregivers and Teachers:

Safe America is certified to offer the PedFacts Workshop to professional child caregivers and teachers.  Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the PedFacts course is designed to give caregivers and teachers the education and confidence they need to effectively care for sick or injured children. This workshop is divided into three sections:  

• What You Should Know - provides background information
• What You Should Look For - provides assessment information
• What You Should Do - provides first aid treatment information and includes common childhood illnesses

Updated from its debut in 1999, the Safe America Foundation is re-issuing its extremely popular workshop that addresses travelers' concerns in the twenty-first century. This workshop is focused on challenges to business travelers and how to safely overcome them. The topics will include but not be limited to:  

• Where to sit on an airplane to reduce your risk of becoming a target
• Where to stay- safest rooms and floors
• Utilizing ground transportation abroad
• Utilizing foreign medical facilities
